Position Overview
Little Explorers Preschool, a ministry of Riverside Church Family, is seeking a warm, organized, and spiritually grounded Preschool Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our preschool operations.
This role includes administrative leadership, staff development, compliance with state and health regulations, and deep engagement with families and young children. The Preschool Director ensures that our program operates with excellence, reflects our faith-based values, and provides a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
This person will serve as the key connector between the preschool and the broader Riverside Church Family, helping integrate families into our community and supporting our church’s mission through early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Administration
- Manage day-to-day preschool operations and scheduling
- Maintain accurate enrollment records and projections
- Submit monthly tuition and financial documentation
- Ensure full compliance with Colorado State Childcare and Health Regulations
- Renew business and childcare licenses annually
- Manage ECE grants and required documentation
- Conduct market research and promote quality improvement
- Family Engagement & Communication
- Guide prospective families through tours and enrollment
- Maintain and update parent handbook and school-wide policies
- Communicate closures, updates, and school-wide alerts
- Manage UPK enrollment and scholarships
- Facilitate family surveys and feedback loops
- Help connect families to Riverside Church – Jefferson Park and its events
- Staff Development & Oversight
- Recruit, hire, and onboard new staff
- Create and manage staff schedules and substitute plans
- Review payroll and PTO, track required staff training
- Mentor teachers and conduct quarterly 1:1s and annual evaluations
- Lead and assign duties to Assistant Director
- Maintain staff files and facilitate Lead Teacher credentialing
- Encourage team culture through events, appreciation, and coaching
- Classroom & Curriculum Oversight
- Review and support Pre-K curriculum and lesson planning
- Coordinate field trips, events, and enrichment programs
- Sub in classrooms when needed and offer behavioral support
- Manage classroom budgets, supply orders, and reimbursements
- Oversee student transitions and maintain updated rosters
- Health & Safety
- Collaborate monthly with Nurse Consultant
- Track immunizations, medications, and care plans
- Submit referrals for early intervention when needed
- Coordinate emergency drills (fire, lockdown, etc.)
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of classrooms and flex spaces

- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and flexible in managing day-to-day challenges
- An experienced leader and team builder who promotes professionalism and a positive culture
- Skilled in communication, conflict resolution, and community building
- Familiar with compliance standards, grant management, and family engagement
- Proficient in software for enrollment, communication, and scheduling

- Must meet Colorado Director Qualifications for licensed preschool centers
