Family Pastor

Bethany is a dynamic and growing church in Gunnison, CO. We belong to the movement of churches formerly called the Baptist General Conference (now Converge).
Position Overview
We are seeking a biblically sound, competent, highly relational, emotionally mature Pastor to
disciple parents and families, and build the next generation of leaders and disciples for Jesus. The Family Pastor will provide pastoral leadership, counseling, and spiritual development for families within the church, with a particular emphasis on strengthening marriages, equipping parents, and guiding youth.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Ministry
- Develop and lead regular fellowship events designed to strengthen family bonds and build community within the church.
- Equip parents to disciple their children and nurture faith at home through classes, resources, and personal mentoring.
- Plan and lead service opportunities that engage families in mission work, both locally and beyond.
Youth Ministry
- Build a consistent, relational, gospel-centered ministry for Middle and High School students including Bible study, fellowship, discipleship and service.
- Lead a weekly large group meeting for teaching and fellowship.
- Coordinate events, mission trips, retreats and other experiences for students to grow in relationship with God and with one another.
- Partner with parents to support and equip them in their role as primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives.
Counseling and Pastoral Care
- Provide Christian counseling to individuals, couples, and families on issues such as marriage, parenting, conflict resolution, and spiritual growth.
- Partner with church leadership to provide pastoral care to families facing crises or transitions.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counseling relationships.
Administration and Collaboration
- Preach or teach in worship services as needed, especially on family or youth-focused topics.
- Manage ministry budgets, calendars, and communication.
Qualifications:
- A passionate follower of Christ, committed to family and student ministry and the overall vision of Bethany Church.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in family ministry and/or youth ministry preferred.
- Counselling experience preferred.
- Faithful pursuit of leadership characteristics as listed in 1Tim.3.
- A strong knowledge of the Bible and theology.
- Strong communication and relational skills, with a heart for nurturing families and discipling the next generation.
Salary Range:
$50K-$60K (based on experience and education) plus benefits, including individual health insurance stipend of $10,000 and paid vacation time. This salaried position carries the expectation of an average of 40 hours worked per week.
