Alumni Support Specialist

CrossPurpose is a non-profit organization abolishing relational, economic, and spiritual poverty through career and community development.
Launched in 2008, our primary objective was to find tangible, practical ways to “love our neighbor.” Over the years this has taken many forms, from providing a night out for single moms, to starting a Cub Scout program for fatherless boys, to recruiting foster parents for kids in need, and establishing aftercare programs for those who were being released from incarceration.
We have refined our mission as a career and community development program and our programs focus on urban leadership development as well as job training tracks. We work with disadvantaged populations and equip them with the training and skills to overcome generational poverty and serve as allies throughout the entire process.

The Position:
The Alumni Specialist manages alumni engagement activities, provides job coaching support, and coordinates events for alumni at CrossPurpose. This role ensures effective communication, fosters a strong alumni community, and supports alumni in their professional journeys. The specialist will also handle data management within the Salesforce CRM system to enhance operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
● Alumni & Operations: This role manages the Alumni calendar and coordinates events and activities to ensure clear communication. Responsibilities include planning alumni functions, arranging logistics such as meeting rooms, food, and materials, and tracking and organizing alumni graduation items. The position supports the Alumni Director with expense reporting and relief requests for graduates, while also managing alumni communications through Gmail and Facebook. Additional duties include tracking graduate engagement in Salesforce and identifying process improvements for greater efficiency.
● Case Management & Job Coaching: The role serves as a liaison between Career Services and the Alumni Department, keeping employment statuses updated and providing tailored case management and job coaching plans. Regular check-ins with alumni ensure their progress and satisfaction while maintaining detailed records in Salesforce. The position connects alumni to resources and services to help them secure full-time, livable-wage employment, adjusting plans as needed to meet their goals.
● Event Management: Responsibilities include planning and executing three to four alumni events each year, from logistics and purchasing to communication with participants. Collaboration with the Alumni Council and volunteers ensures successful activities that engage and support the alumni community.
● Community Development: The role involves attending key alumni and CrossPurpose events, such as quarterly Family Gathering dinners, program graduation ceremonies, reunions, and other scheduled activities, including those held on evenings or weekends.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Business, or related field preferred.
● Experience in case management, job coaching, or alumni relations is a plus.
● Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
● Excellent organizational and communication skills.
● Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and build strong relationships.
● Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
● Commitment to CrossPurpose’s mission of empowering individuals and fostering community transformation.
Salary + Benefits:
Hours: 40+ hours/week: generally Monday -Friday 8:00am -5:00pm and other night and weekend hours as scheduled
Salary/Wage : $55,000-$66,000 annual
Performance Bonus: Up to 5% of salary
Vacation: 15 days per year, plus the office is closed Christmas Day – New Years Day and staff have limited duties
Sick Days: 6 days per year
