REPORTS TO: ASSOCIATE RECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time, paid position for the purpose of developing, coordinating, and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry of faith formation from birth through high school. The Student Ministry Director will develop the Christian Education Program for Children and Youth. The SMD will oversee the Children’s Ministry Coordinator and the children’s programs such as Vacation Bible School, Parents Night Out, the Children’s Christmas Pageant, and other special events. The SMD will be the primary leader for the youth ministry implementing specific spiritual programs, establish continuous curriculum, provide weekly classes/meetings, service programs, fundraisers, retreats, special events, and Confirmation Classes, so youth may know Christ and make Him known. The SMD will lead by example, mentor and serve as a godly role model. The SMD will continue to recruit, train and develop adult volunteers for the weekly Children’s and Youth programs as well as maintain on-going relationships with the students at Grace Christian School.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety:
• Ensure each student is signed in and signed out by a parent. Parents must give updated contact info on the sign-in/out form.
• In case of an emergency, use a sign in sheet to contact parents immediately. Then notify Church clergy of the situation.
• To prevent accidents, keep the floor area free from excess games, clutter, or backpacks. Train/remind youth to clean up after themselves.
• Ask parents to note any medical conditions, or allergies with due diligence and in writing.
• Report to your supervisor any issues or concerns that hinder your ability to provide a spirit of excellence through Christ-like service to the Youth.
Expectations:
• Attend weekly staff meetings; Meet w/ Children/Youth Vestry Liaison quarterly-give report and meet with Associate Rector and his leadership team as needed.
• Meet goals and objectives CTK Anglican Church has for Children & Youth; attend conferences for personal development.
• Take Youth on local conferences as well as retreats, service opportunities, social gatherings etc.
• Work w/ Youth Wednesday evenings throughout the year.
• Train and recruit Volunteers; provide curriculum planning sessions at a minimum 2-4 times per year.
• Exhibit a positive, Christ-like attitude with all whom you encounter especially parents and volunteers.
• Attend the 10:15am Sunday service weekly and 8am service as needed to make announcements.Revised 10-29-2024.
• Keep all activities in spiritual alignment with the vision and mission statement of CTK.
• Make sure all rooms in Youth Building are left neat and tidy, lights out, and doors secured.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Meet weekly with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator
• Cultivate strong discipling relationships with youth.
• Meet with youth as needed ie, lunch, golf, school visits.
• Attend life cycle events that surround youth i.e. graduations, birthdays, sports etc.
• Oversee the development of children and youth yearly curriculum and budget.
• Maintain youth Facebook and Instagram weekly.
• Demonstrates commitment and support to the vision and mission of CTKA Church.
• Display a positive work ethic, be self-motivated and a team player with strong communications skills, and an ability to work harmoniously with both paid staff, volunteers, parents, children, youth and acolytes entrusted to your care.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Satisfactory completion of background check.
Experience in leading, teaching and forming youth in the Christian Faith.
Satisfactory completion of CPR training for infants and children.
Must sign and adhere to Christ the King Anglican Church Child Protection Policy guidelines.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Strong Biblical knowledge is required, and a general understanding of the Anglican tradition is preferred. Excellent people skills relating to children, youth and parents is a must along with outstanding written and oral communication skills.
SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a solid assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. A passion for Youth to know the Word of God and deep desire to disciple them in the faith. Possess strong Biblical knowledge and an ability to preach/teach Youth how to apply and live out a Biblical worldview. Be an active Christian, confirmed/willing to be confirmed Anglican and person of daily prayer, Bible study and dependence on God. Possess an attitude of one who is faithful, teachable and available. Agrees and supports the mission and vision statement of faith of Christ the King Anglican Church.
SALARY AND TIME COMMITMENT:
This is a full-time position averaging 40-45 hours per week. Compensation is determined based on experience and qualifications and falls within compensation ranges for churches of comparable size.
