Mission Statement:
Drawing our communities and world into a deeper relationship with God
Vision Statement:
We desire to be a Joy filled, intergenerational, and diverse family of disciples who gather and go.
Core Values:
Trinity
The Bible speaks to us of a loving God who has created us for a deep relationship with Him. We acknowledge that God exists and works in three persons: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and strive to know each through prayer, Scripture, and quiet listening.
Discipleship
God calls us to be and make disciples. Together, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we pray, learn, walk, watch, serve, and encourage one another to live as Jesus taught.
Mission
Our God-given mission is to share Jesus anywhere, anytime, with everyone and to help others to do the same.
Worship
As God’s family we will worship and honor Him with whole hearts surrendered. We seek to encounter the living God and celebrate His goodness both as we gather and as we go about our daily lives.
Generations
Jesus values each generations’ unique perspectives and gifts to the community. We seek to connect, empower, and appreciate one another regardless of generation with empathy and love as Jesus modeled.
Participation
God has entrusted each and every person with gifts, talents, and abilities that are necessary for His mission. At FBC Olathe we join together to discover, develop, and use these to participate in His work.
Vision Statement:
We desire to be a Joy filled, intergenerational, and diverse family of disciples who gather and go.
Narrative:
As God’s people, we have a natural rhythm of life of gather and go. In the gather rhythm, we come together to worship, learn, and celebrate. In the go rhythm, we connect in smaller groups for discipleship and mission. We believe that church is not simply a place we go, but it is a people we are. Whether we are all together or meeting in smaller groups, we recognize that all of life is lived as a people who have been called together to live with and for God.
Our shared mission is to draw our communities and world into a deeper relationship with God. As a family, weather we gather or go, we pursue this mission with all that we are and have. We pursue this mission together shaped by our core values – Trinity, Discipleship, Mission, Worship, Generations, and Participation.
In 2027, we see a joy filled, intergenerational and diverse family of disciples who gather to worship. Worship gatherings will provide an opportunity for peoples of all generations to come before the Lord in meaningful ways. All who call FBC Olathe home will be provided the opportunity to participate in our Sunday morning gatherings. We see children working alongside seniors to greet people at the doors, families serving communion, and a worship team comprised of gifted musicians of all ages.
In 2027, we see a joy filled, intergenerational and diverse family of disciples who gather to learn together through Equip classes for all ages. These classes equip us to live the life God is calling us to live in relationship to Him, our families, friends, communities, and world. Equip teachers will be empowered and encouraged to lead classes that offer fun learning opportunities while establishing meaningful connections.
In 2027 we see a joy filled, intergenerational and diverse family of disciples who gather to celebrate. We celebrate life with one another on Sunday mornings as we connect and share the blessings and struggles of our week. We gather to celebrate as a whole church family monthly at our family fun nights, other large events, and at our yearly Celebration of Life Together.
In 2027 we see a joy filled, intergenerational and diverse family of disciples who seek to be and to make disciples as we go. Adults partner with one another in our Discipleship and Journey groups “d and J groups”. In these groups People choose to walk alongside one another in authentic relationships as they chase after Jesus. In these relationships people learn to live more like Him. Children and youth alike are being discipled by their parents and trusted members of our faith community.
In 2027 we see a joy filled, intergenerational and diverse family of disciples who seek to be on and support mission as we go. Individuals look for opportunities to show the love of Christ to others, bless them, and share their story of redemption. As a community we commit to missions both locally and globally. Disciple Groups and Journey groups join to serve the neighborhoods that surround them. As a church family we work closely with our preschool, Scouts, Bethel Community Center (in Kansas City Kansas), and Murrow children’s Home (in Muskogee Oklahoma) as well as other partners who share in our desire to serve and meet the needs of our communities. We will know our global servants, support them financially, relationally, and physically on mission trips.
