ROLE DESCRIPTION
Part-time Library Assistant
This position offices in person.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Part-time Valor Library Assistant possesses a working knowledge of general library services and systems and sees each student as a unique individual. This position supports all aspects of the library and serves library patrons, as well as completing key administrative tasks which contribute to the smooth operation of the library and preservation of the library space. This is a part-time position with set days and some after school hours.

- Support collection development, cataloging, and processing materials
- Staff the circulation desk to provide excellent customer service and assist with technology issues
- Supervise students using the library and maintain a library environment conducive to learning
- Support the development of students’ research skills including accessing, evaluating, and using information
- Participate in library advocacy efforts and promotion of reading
- Support librarians in all aspects of their work

- Elevate routine library transactions into opportunities for building relationships with students and Valor team members

- Guide students in developing information literacy skills for use beyond high school

- The library will be an attractive place to students for study, research, and reading
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
- Proficiency using technology and preferred experience in information library systems and databases
- A service-oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in libraries preferred
- Experience working with high school students preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied
POSITION TYPE A: Student-facing positions. Traditional school calendar. August – May
HOURS PER WEEK: Part-time, Non-Exempt. 18 hours per week. Note: Hours expected are 11:00am – 5:00pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
SUPERVISOR: Library Department Chair
PAY RANGE: $16 – $19hr
START DATE: January 5, 2024
