Music Worship Team Lead – Part-Time

Job Summary

The Music Worship Team Lead must be a follower of Christ and have a living faith.  In partnership with the senior pastor, the Team Lead provides leadership and vision for weekend worship services and music for special events, primarily in the Great Hall of Calvary Church. This liturgical service  uses a blend of music styles including contemporary music and traditional hymns. The Music Worship Team Lead focuses on equipping and empowering others for participation and group leadership within the music ministry, and so recruits, trains, deploys, and supports group leads, musicians, and singers, who can lead the congregation in musical worship. The Lead should prioritize facilitation of worship through music and congregational participation above providing a musical performance.  The Music Worship Team Lead partners with other staff and volunteer music group leaders for special music events, as appropriate. 

Qualifications

The Team Lead will have skills to nurture, teach, and encourage, and will be proficient vocally and on one or more musical instruments.  The Lead will be able to guide others vocally and to assist members of the volunteer music ministry team with improving their musicianship.  Cataloging, indexing, and digital music library experience is desired; and some knowledge of sound board, audio mixing, and band technical set-up would be a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, deploy, and support instrumentalists and vocalists as well as potential musical group leaders in music ministry
• Oversee music for weekend worship in the Great Hall, including music selection and rehearsal leadership
• Partner with the Family Life Team Lead and the Youth Team Lead to include children and youth in music ministry, where appropriate
• Collaborate with other staff and ministry leaders in the planning of additional/special services and events
• Develop and utilize a related ministry budget
• Participate in staff meetings, staff prayer, staff development, and team-building

Supervises:  Music ministry volunteer group leads, musicians and vocalists

Supervisor:  Senior Pastor

Conditions and Compensation

• Half-time position (20 hrs/wk)
• Compensation $30,000 – $35,000 per year depending on experience 
• 6-month reviewable trial period
