POSITION SUMMARY:  General and detail cleaning of the church buildings and equipment.  Event set-up and tear down.  Minor building maintenance. Snow removal as needed.  Follow established schedules and standards of workmanship.  Kitchen duties including but not limited to preparation of food, and cleanup. This position is a good position for someone who is looking for a job that will let them concentrate on their studies. Work schedule can be flexible and arranged around a class schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Facilities Assistant (part time) is responsible for periodic cleaning of all public areas, offices and restrooms of the church facilities.  The assistant will primarily function on his own under the supervision of the Facilities Director.  There will be occasions for teamwork with other members of the facilities staff on larger projects.  The part time assistant is expected to be available to work a flexible schedule.  Wednesday and Sunday evening availability is required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED certification preferred; must be able to read, write, understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.

• General knowledge of work place safety procedures.

• Christian beliefs compatible with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

• Demonstrated effective oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills Must perform responsibilities in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing working conditions.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule. (Must be available Wednesday afternoon/evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoon/evenings)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Normal office environment. Occasional work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather for extended periods of time.  Use and mixing of cleaning chemicals.  Must be physically capable of lifting at least 60 lbs. and completing 8 hours of sustained physical activity.  Requires mental alertness and the ability to think and respond quickly.
