Compassion Ministry Coordinator
The Compassion Ministry Coordinator plays a pivotal role in Wellspring’s initiatives to care for the poor in the name of Jesus. Wellspring’s Compassion Ministry is dedicated to eradicating poverty in the city of Englewood through relational ministry. The scope of this work includes Relief oriented services that are focused on meeting people’s current needs, Development services that assist people in exiting poverty, and Collaborative Engagement with other agencies and entities within the community that are addressing poverty at the systemic level.
The Compassion Ministry Coordinator’s specific duties revolve around the Relief oriented services that Wellspring provides each week. These services are centered in a Community Resource Center we call “The Well” that is open every Sunday. At “The Well” we offer Resource Connection, a Food Pantry, a Community Meal, Spiritual Care, and a No- Cost Medical Clinic. The Compassion Ministry Coordinator oversees the logistics of “The Well” each week, namely: Volunteer Coordination and Care, guest intake and support, facility set up and tear down, and programmatic direction.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Compassion Ministry Coordinator works closely with the Compassion Pastor to support the creation, planning, and implementation of new initiatives within the Compassion Ministry, focused on advancing Wellspring’s mission to care for the poor
Finally, the Compassion Pastor will meet regularly with the Compassion Ministry Coordinator to explore areas of growth and support their development in the work of poverty alleviation. These meetings will include working through professional development resources such as books and personal assessments, as well as opportunities to network with local agency partners.
